By-election for the Sarpanch and Panch positions has been announced to be held on July 27, 2025. The Punjab State Election Commission, with such an announcement, aims to fill 90 vacant Sarpanch positions and 1771 vacant Panch seats across various districts in the state.

These elections are to be held following the Gram Panchayats held in year 2024 on October 15. As per the schedule, nomination papers can be filled with the Returning Officers from today (July 14, Monday) between 11 am to 3 pm. And, the last date has been announced as July 17 (Thursday). Scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted on Friday, July 18 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is Saturday, July 19 until 3 pm.

The Punjab State Election commission has announced polling for July 27. This will be conducted using ballot papers. Vote counting will reportedly be carried immediately after the polling ends at the respective polling stations only.

Directorate of Information & Public Relations in Punjab stated that the "final publication of updated Electoral Polls was published on May 23, 2025 by the District Election Officers.

"The expenditure limit notified for a candidate contesting for the post of Sarpanch is INR 40,000 whereas for Panch, expenditure limit has been fixed at INR 30,000."

State Election Commission of Punjab with an announcement of by election schedule, attached the list of Districts with the numbers seats vacant for Panches and Sarpanches all across the Punjab.
