KKR Mock Travis Head, Target SRH Star In Avoidable Social Media Post After Yet Another Failure

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) endured a heavy defeat at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their latest Indian Premier League (IPL) fixture, going down by a massive 80-run margin on Thursday. This loss marked SRH's third straight defeat in the 2025 season, leaving them with just one win out of their first three matches.

Despite a fiery and record-breaking start to their campaign, where they posted a mammoth 286 runs against the Rajasthan Royals, SRH's momentum seems to have fizzled out. In stark contrast to that explosive opening game, the team has struggled to cross even the 200-run mark in subsequent outings.

Travis Head’s Ongoing Struggles Against KKR

A major concern for SRH has been the inconsistent form of their star opener, Travis Head. Against KKR, Head managed to score just 4 runs before being dismissed, continuing his poor streak against the Kolkata franchise. Over the last three matches facing KKR, the Australian batter has not been able to get going, having failed to score in the previous two encounters and now adding another low score to that record.

Although Head has built a reputation for being a destructive force in the IPL—routinely dominating bowling attacks—his performances against KKR have been anything but threatening. His inability to deliver in this crucial fixture further weakened SRH’s chase of a big target.

KKR Trolls Travis Head with Social Media Jibe

Adding to the disappointment for SRH fans, KKR took to social media to take a subtle dig at Travis Head following his early dismissal. The franchise posted a caption saying, "Head-ing towards the business, right from the start," mocking the batter's failure in a seemingly light-hearted yet sharp manner.

The post quickly gained traction online and drew mixed reactions from fans. While some praised KKR's witty wordplay, others criticized the move as unnecessary and unsportsmanlike, especially when targeting a player going through a tough patch.

Pat Cummins Reflects on SRH’s Performance

Speaking after the match, the SRH captain Pat Cummins did not shy away from accepting responsibility for the loss. He acknowledged that several aspects of the team’s performance, particularly fielding and decision-making, were subpar.

“Not a great time. I think this was gettable on a pretty good wicket. We left too many runs out there in the field and then fell well short with the bat,” Cummins admitted. “We need to be realistic. Three games in a row it hasn't come off for us. Maybe we need to reflect on whether we could’ve made better choices.”

Cummins emphasized that SRH’s batting unit is most effective when playing aggressively, but hinted that a more calculated approach might have been better suited in this game. He also pointed out that fielding errors cost them crucial runs.

Zampa’s Absence and Strategic Decisions

When questioned about the decision to leave out Australian spinner Adam Zampa from the playing XI, Cummins explained that conditions did not favor spin bowling.

“We only bowled three overs of spin in the match. The ball wasn’t gripping, so we decided to go without Zamps. It wasn’t the ideal surface for spin,” Cummins clarified.

Looking ahead, Cummins said he wouldn’t dwell too long on the defeat but would look into possible changes. “I’ll probably review the loss in terms of strategic options, but it’s important not to overanalyze. We now return to a venue we know well and can hopefully bounce back.”

Time to Regroup for SRH

With three losses in a row, SRH now faces increasing pressure to get their campaign back on track. While their opening match showed glimpses of their firepower, the inconsistency since then has left fans and management searching for answers. The form of key players like Travis Head, as well as tactical decisions regarding team selection, will be crucial in determining whether SRH can bounce back and make a mark in this IPL season.
