The Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Wednesday arrested Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia in the case of disproportionate assets. The arrest was followed by a raid on his residence in Amritsar. Majithia is Punjab's former Cabinet Minister and brother-in-law of Shiromani Akali Dal Chief Sukhbir Singh Badal.

Majithia himself narrated the situation by sharing a post on his 'X' account. He said that last night, the Government registered him under a vigilance enquiry. He added, today DSP named Inderpal without giving any introduction, entered their residence with over 50 people.

He extended that senior officers came and intervened, after which the situation turned better. He mentioned, "whatever they have registered against me, I am submitted to it." There was no need of high-handedness. Elaborating his words, he added, ADG Parmar was removed from the position for this purpose only.

Their authoritarian behaviour had no limits. They sealed an entire street around his house, and no advocate or media was allowed to enter. He added that all this was the plot.

"There is no one at the house in Chandigarh, and they are trespassing there. They have entered inside and could plant anything. They could plant something here in my house as well. The press is not being allowed to come, lawyers have been pushed, and every aspect of the law is being ignored, said Majithia.

While speaking, he said, if they wanted to file a Vigilance case, they could have issued a notice. It is clear that the law is being completely disregarded. "I have said it before, with the blessings of Guru Sahib, we will fight this battle," said the SAD leader

While mentioning the case, earlier registered against him, he added just like the government failed in the anti-PSA cases, failed in the Supreme Court and in the High Court, they will fail in this case as well. He said,

"This FIR is useless, and it only exists to silence the opposition. But the opposition will not be silenced. The people of Punjab are aware and will stand strong to fight back."

SAD stands by Majithia

**Bikram Majithia arrested after vigilance raid at Amritsar house; taken to Mohali**

Following the arrest of Majithia, Shiromani Akali Dal party has come ahead to stand by him. Sukhbir Singh, the President of SAD and the party are in support of Majithia. SAD President said, while taking it his 'X' account wrote

"We will not be cowed down by the brutal attempts to suppress the voice of the people expressed by Majithia and Other Akali leaders by letting lose State agencies against them."

This is not for the first time that Akali leaders have faced political revenge, "we are ready to fight it," said Sukhbir Singh Badal. He added that filing false cases is a crime and the officers involved should remember that these actions will be investigated once this government is out.

"I urge the police personnel not to break the law, as the change of guard is just one and a half years away," added Badal.
