Maha Kumbh is a grand religious event at Pragyaraj, Uttar Pradesh. As people flocked in crores to the holy place, it led to a crowded situation that went out of control. Many women fainted and suffocated at the holy place leading Akharas to cancel the holy dip. Women injured at the Sangam were rushed to the hospitals available in the Zones surrounding the Maha Kumbh. Some seriously injured women were taken to Bailey Hospital and Swaroop Rani Medical College for treatment.

Holy Dip Cancelled

Regarding this, he stated “You would’ve seen what happened in the morning, and that’s why we have decided to… That’s why we have decided to call off our ‘snan’ on ‘Mauni Amavasya”.

Modi Calls Yogi Adityanath

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath and ordered him to arrange for the relief measures as an immediate action.  The authorities have closed the Pontoon bridges to avoid such similar situations and to ensure the safety of the devotees visiting the Sangam.

Crores Reach Sangam

One day after the Second Amrit Snan, about 5 crores of people reached  Pragyaraj. The number rose to 10 crores on the same day itself. The authorities have implemented strict security with the help of AI-powered surveillance, drone monitoring, and increased police presence. These measures have been taken to manage the crowd coming to the Mela.

Special Trains for The Devotees

As the number of people traveling to the Kumbh could be large, the Railways department has made appropriate arrangements. About 360 trains and 190 special trains are functioning to accommodate pilgrims to Pragyaraj. “The special trains are being run in three zones – Northern Railway, North Eastern Railway, and North Central Railway – to manage the massive influx of devotees,” Satish Kumar, Chairman and CEO of the Railway Board said. “This historic move will ensure a train runs every four minutes and provide seamless connectivity and uninterrupted travel for millions of pilgrims,” he added. The Uttar Pradesh government has appointed about 1000 medical professionals in the Maha Kumbh area to handle minor and major surgeries.

This Year’s Maha Kumbh is Special

The Amrit Snan that occurs in the Mauni Amavasya is one of the most significant events of the Maha Kumbh.
