 IPL  Mumbai Indians

Five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians have carved their name deeper into Indian Premier League history this Sunday by becoming the first-ever IPL team to achieve 150 wins in the history of the tournament. Under the strong leadership of Hardik Pandya, MI glided over Rishabh Pant's Lucknow Super Giants by a dominating 54-run win at the Wankhede Stadium.

Commanding Win at the Wankhede

Mumbai Indians recorded a historic milestone in the Indian Premier League. They have won their 150th IPL match, the first in the history of the IPL. Mumbai has defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 54 runs. Suryakumar Yadav and Ryan Rickelton contributed fine fifties. Jasprit Bumrah's brilliant bowling laid a solid foundation for victory for Mumbai.

Earlier, after being instructed to bat by LSG captain Rishabh Pant, MI had relied on the blistering fifties by Suryakumar Yadav (54 off 28 balls) and Ryan Rickelton (58 off 32 balls) to register a tightly fought 215 for 7.

Jasprit Bumrah then bewitched the ground with his bowling, picking up 4/22, as Mumbai bowled Lucknow out for 161 in 20 overs to win convincingly.

This was also Mumbai's first-ever league stage win over LSG in seven tries, having won against them only once before, in the Eliminator of IPL 2023.

MI's Dominance Reflected in the Numbers

With this triumph, Mumbai Indians now have 150 wins and 121 losses from 271 matches, further cementing their status as the most successful team in IPL history.

The victory was also MI's fifth on the trot this season, propelling them to second place in the ten-team points table with 12 points from 10 games (six wins and four defeats).

Five-time title winners Chennai Super Kings is ranked second in the list of most matches won by winning 140 out of their 248 games in IPL, followed by three-time title winners Kolkata Knight Riders with 134 wins in 261 games and Royal Challengers Bengaluru with 129 wins in 266 games, then Delhi Capitals with 121 winning games in 261.

The other two IPL teams to have completed the milestone of more than 100 wins are Punjab Kings with 117 and Rajasthan Royals with 114.

Stellar Performances Lead the Way

Suryakumar Yadav and Ryan Rickelton's attacking batting gave MI the platform for a massive score, making it an uphill task for Lucknow from the beginning. Bumrah's masterclass spell destroyed the LSG batting order, with his 4/22 figures highlighting why he is still one of the most feared bowlers in T20 cricket.

Mumbai Indians' performance this season has been nothing short of incredible, and with Hardik Pandya leading the team, the team appears to have discovered an ideal rhythm. The five-game winning streak has not only given their campaign a new lease of life but also placed them in a very strong position for the playoffs.

MI Eyeing Another Title

With the tournament progressing towards its climax, Mumbai Indians appear to be ready to pursue their sixth IPL title. Driven by brilliant individual performances and a well-knit team effort, they again appear to be genuine title contenders.
