Ranveer Allahbadia Embarks on First International Trip after India's Got Latent Row

After several months of being entangled in a legal controversy, YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, has finally received clearance to travel abroad. The development is a major relief to the influencer, who had been grounded in India amid an investigation tied to controversial comments made on the YouTube show 'India's Got Latent'. On Monday, the Supreme Court of Indiadirected the police to return Ranveer’s passport, enabling him to travel again for professional engagements.
The move follows submissions from the Assam and Maharashtra governments to the apex court, confirming that their investigations into the matter had concluded. Ranveer, who commands a massive YouTube following of over 10.4 million subscribers, had argued in court that international travel was crucial for his podcast-related work, which forms his primary source of income.
Wasting no time, Ranveer took to Instagram to share the news and express his relief. He posted a picture of himself at the airport, smiling beside his suitcase with the caption, “Passport mil gaya guys (have got my passport back, guys).” The post marked his first international journey since the controversy broke out earlier this year. Ranveer also shared a screenshot of a news article highlighting the Supreme Court’s directive to return his passport, along with a photo of himself seated in business class, visibly relaxed and content.
The YouTuber had initially submitted his passport to the police as part of a Supreme Court order dated February 18. That ruling had provided him protection from arrest in connection with multiple FIRs filed over his remarks on the show. In March, Ranveer petitioned the court to return his passport, citing the need to travel and continue his interviews for his widely followed podcast.
The controversy surrounding Ranveer Allahbadia began in early February after an episode of India’s Got Latent aired on YouTube. The episode, which featured Ranveer alongside fellow creators Apoorva Mukhija and Ashish Chanchlani, drew widespread criticism for a question posed by Ranveer to a contestant. He asked, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever?”
Though the group laughed off the moment on-camera, the public reaction was anything but forgiving. The clip sparked outrage among politicians, social media users, and various organizations. The video was subsequently removed from YouTube just two days after it was published, following complaints made to the Union Government.
Ranveer and other participants of the episode were soon named in multiple FIRs filed in Maharashtra and Assam. The accusations included serious charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, such as outraging the modesty of women (Section 79), promoting enmity (Section 196), insulting religious beliefs (Section 299), and acts against public decency (also under Section 299).
During the court proceedings, the Solicitor General informed the Supreme Court that the investigations were complete, but Ranveer was expected to continue cooperating with authorities until the final charge sheet was filed.
Ranveer took accountability for his actions by releasing a public apology on X, acknowledging that the question he asked was inappropriate and in poor taste. He also submitted a written apology to the National Commission for Women (NCW), expressing regret over his behavior during the episode.
Now that the court has granted him the ability to travel again, Ranveer appears eager to move past the controversy and refocus on his career. Known for his motivational content and high-profile interviews with leaders, celebrities, and professionals across industries, the creator seems poised to resume his global engagements with renewed purpose.
This incident marks a critical moment in the career of one of India’s most influential digital creators. While the controversy undoubtedly took a toll on his mental health, as he previously admitted, it has also highlighted the growing scrutiny content creators face in the era of viral media. As Ranveer returns to international platforms, he does so with both the scars and lessons of a public reckoning.
