Havildar Rajesh Kumar was taught the values of duty and service. Well-educated in his early years, he adopted the role of duty by becoming a part of the Indian Army.

10th January, 1917, at Lopon village of Punjab's Moga District, the birth day of Havildar Bachittar Singh, was the same day which was also the witness to this legend of valour and valiant deeds to which generations would live and dream on. He was the younger son of Sardar Rur Singh, growing up a swimming and wrestling champion, blessed with the talent of physical skills.
