Two Maoists Killed in Encounter with Security Forces in Chhattisgarh

Security forces achieved success in their operation targeting Maoist insurgents in Chhattisgarh's Bastar district jungle area by eliminating two senior Maoists during an encounter near both Kondagaon and Narayanpur districts. The April 15, 2025, mission performed exceptionally well toward the goal of minimizing insurgent activities within the region.

The encounter took place in the Kilam-Bargum forest belt, an area infamous for Maoist activity. Intelligence from reliable sources about Maoist presence led to a joint mission of DRG and Bastar Fighters, who conducted their operation. During the encounter with the rebels, gunfire exchanges occurred, which led to the deaths of two Maoist rebels.

The two neutralized individuals were Haldar, who was a Divisional Committee Member (DVCM) with bounty money of ₹8 lakh, and Rame, who was an Area Committee Member (ACM) with bounty money of ₹5 lakh. The Maoist hierarchy recognized both individuals as important members who organized multiple violent acts in their area of operations.

An AK-47 rifle, together with multiple additional weapons and explosives, along with Maoist materials, was found at the encounter site by security personnel after the incident. The seized evidence will give security personnel important details regarding the insurgent group's operational abilities and strategic plans.

"The elimination of these top-level operatives is a major setback back to Maoist operations in the region," a senior police official stated. "Their presence in the East Bastar Division was linked to multiple violent incidents, and their neutralization is a significant achievement for the forces."

Security forces undertake this meeting as part of their extended campaign to boost counterinsurgency operations in Chhattisgarh against Maoist rebels. Military operations during recent months achieved several rebel casualties and obtained substantial amounts of weapons and explosives during seizures.

The state government reaffirmed its commitment to removing the influence of Maoists from the state. It is trying to increase intelligence collection, enhance security agency coordination, and invest in the socio-economic development of affected districts to meet the cause of the insurgency at the grassroots level.

Local communities have been relieved by the heightened security presence and the steps being taken proactively to protect them. There is an emerging sense of optimism that consistent efforts by security forces will bring enduring peace and development to the area.

During ongoing military operations, government representatives make amicable appeals to insurgents for them to surrender their weapons and join mainstream society while providing rehabilitation services and assistance to those willing to end violent acts. The Chhattisgarh government remains dedicated to normalizing conditions and establishing prosperity throughout the affected regions.
