On the anniversary of this milestone, Actress Sushmita Sen recalled the moment by sharing her Miss Universe visuals on her Instagram. She remembers the day when she was introduced to the universe.

She shared the photos of the day she was crowned as Miss Universe to her Instagram handle. Sharing the pride moment 31 years after the victory, she referred to it as a historic win. She wrote-

"A historical win that introduced an 18yr old Indian girl to the Universe."

She wished 31 years of India's first victory, extended her thanks to God and her parents. She quoted-

"Happy 31st Anniversary of India's first ever victory at Miss Universe!! To have the honour of representing my country, I will proudly cherish forever!!"

Her overwhelming statements in the caption are defining her extreme emotions aligned with the win.

Sen's Wish to Philippines

In one of her interviews, she mentioned that her win not only laid a mark in the hearts of Indian people. However, people of Philippines are extremely obsessed with her. She emphasised that there are girls in the nation who are named after her.

While in the interview, she spoke of the incident when she went to Philippines for an interview with Jessica Soho, who is an anchor there. She met the girls who were named after her.

First Miss Universe's winning answer

While Sushmita Sen is a popular name, she is known for her courage, passion and intelligence. Her journey of winning the title has been incredible.

In one of her interviews, she spoke about her winning answer where she mentioned, there was a word 'essence' and she did not know the meaning of word. But, her answer turned to be a winning answer.

She was asked, "What for you is the essence of being woman?" She answered-

I think being a woman by itself is the very fact that the woman is a gift of God which all of us must appreciate. The origin of a child is a mother and is a woman. And a woman is one who shares love and who shows what love, caring, sharing is all about. That's the essence of being a woman."
