Amid the ongoing escalation in the Middle East that erupted last year, the Israeli Military launched precise strikes on military targets in Iran earlier on Saturday, October 26, 2024. These airstrikes were targeted in response to the previous continuous attack from Tehran. Israel announced that its air strikes target on military facilities in Iran has beencompleted.
Notably, the airstrikes were targeted in Iran at 2:30 am, and by 6:00 am, the Israeli military announced their strikes were completed and its mission was fulfilled. At least seven explosions were targeted in Tehran and its nearby areas.
According to the Israeli Defense Forces, these airstrikes were launched in response to months of continuous attacks from Iran, after a barrage of Iranian missiles were launched at Israel on October 1.
These missiles weretargeted at several Iranian manufacturing facilities and aerial facilities in the provinces of Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam. Meanwhile, destruction has been reported in some areas.
Irans State TV has confirmed that several explosions were heard around the Capital Tehran. However, there was no official comment about the source of theexplosion.
Meanwhile, a few hours later, several explosions were heard in the Capital Tehran. The Iranian media said that was because of the activation of air defense systems.
The United States had previously urged Israel to refrain from striking. A senior US official described these airstrikes asextensive and precise. He said that the US did not take part in the strike. But it worked with the Israeli government to encourage a low-risk attack with no civilian harm.
The effect was proportionate self-defense response. The effect is to deter future attacks and to degrade Irans abilities to launch future attacks, he said.
Further, the US Senior Official stressed that the US marked the attack to be an end to the exchange of fire between Israel and Iran.
This should be the end of the direct military exchange between Israel and Iran we had a direct exchange in April and that was closed off and now weve had this direct exchange again, he added.
On October 1, 2024, Iran launched a significant missile attack on Israel, by firing around 200 ballistic missiles. The missile attack was conducted in retaliation for the assassination of Hamas and Hezbollah Key figures, Ismail Haniyeh and Hassan Nasrallah respectively. These missiles were intercepted by the Israeli Air Forces, causing minor damage to military facilities and civilian areas.
