Salman Khan firing case: Accused claims Prison Doctor asked bribe for medical treatment

After the months of the Salman Khan firing case incident, recently a prison doctor allegedly demanded payment from an accused in the incident that occurred on April 14th, 2024, outside the residence of actor Salman Khan, in order to repair the actors broken finger.

Who was accused?

Notably, the accused, identified as Harpal Singh, was arrested in connection with the April incident. The allegation was made before the judge, BD Shelke, when he was produced before the special court for Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA).

Courts direction?

Meanwhile, the court directed the chief medical officer (CMO) of Taloja Jail, where Harpal Singh was being held, to produce a report and urged the jail authorities to provide the accused with necessary medical consideration.

Salman Khan Firing Incident?

On April 14th, 2024, two unidentified men opened fire outside the residence of Salman Khan in Bandra, Mumbai. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident, as Salman Khan was inside his home at that time. Meanwhile, the Mumbai Police has taken strict action in finding the suspect of the case and attributed the attack to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and have arrested six individuals in connection with the case.

Whats new?

The accused, Harpal Singh, was one recently held. He alleged that a prison doctor asked him for a bribe for medical treatment. He recently told the court that the right finger of the doctors right hand was fractured for the past eight months. The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) demanded Rs 10,000 for referring him to a higher center, as the doctor alleged.

The court has asked for the report by October 7. While, one other accused in the case, identified as Mohammad Chaudhary, alleged that he had an infection in his right leg. The court has also directed the CMO to provide him with the medical treatment.

Salman Khans rivalry with Lawrence Bishnoi Gang

The Lawrence Bishnoi Gang and Salman Khans animosity dates back to the 1998 Blackbuck poaching case. The Bishnoi Community to which Lawrence Bishnoi belongs considers blackbuck sacred. Meanwhile, Salman Khans involvement in the case deeply affected the religious sentiments of the Bishnoi gang.

Salman Khans Blackbuck Poaching Case?

Back in 1998, while filming the movie Hum Sath Sath Hain in Rajasthan, Salman Khan, along with his co-actors Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Neelan, and Tabu, allegedly went on a hunting expedition and killed two blackbucks, an endangered species in Jodhpurs Kankani village.

On October 12, 1998, after the alleged complaints from the local Bishnoi groups, Salman Khan was arrested.

In April 2006, under the Wildlife Protection Act, Salman Khan was charged with Rs 25,000 and was sent for five years of imprisonment by a trial court.

Over the past few years, following the incident, Salman Khan has faced multiple hearings and appeals in the court. In 2026, the Rajasthan High Court found him innocent and charged him due to insufficient evidence. However, in 2018, the Jodhpur court once again convicted him and sentenced him to five years. Salman Khan has been out on bail while appealing his 2018 conviction.

His co-actors involving Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Neelam, and Tabu were acquitted due to a lack of evidence.
